“Employee Benefits Law – Update” 

Christopher Smith is a Principal and Plan Compliance Director for Flexible Benefits Systems, Inc., an affiliate company of Apple Growth Partners.  Chris provides benefit plan design and management services.  He has extensive ERISA experience, providing plan design and documentation, compliance reporting requirements, plan communication documents, and legal counsel for qualified plans.  Chris has served both large and small organizations, union and non-union, and has specific expertise with automotive dealerships, healthcare practices, and manufacturing organizations.  His practice specialization is qualified plan design, management and compliance. 

Chris received his Bachelor of Arts from Kent State University, his Juris Doctor from Ohio Northern School of Law, and his Master of Laws – Taxation, Certificate in Employee Benefits Law from Georgetown University Law Center.   

His professional affiliations include Ohio Bar Association, ASPPA Benefits Council of Cleveland, Worldwide Employee Benefits Network (WEB), and Editor of Benefits Insider (a monthly publication sponsored by WEB).
